OUR HISTORY

Snyder's Furniture was founded in 1983 as Grandma's Quilts & Pillows by Minnie Snyder. She started out selling Amish made quilts and pillows at the Smoketown Flea Market.

Over the next few years, Grandma's Quilts & Pillows opened small stands in various other local farmers markets, offering a bit of Lancaster's heritage to visiting tourists. Grandma's developed a reputation as the destination for locally made crafts. Minnie Snyder, along with her daughter, then Eileen Snyder, also operated a small fabric store in the basement of their home and a store featuring Christmas oriented crafts over the holidays in the East Town Mall.

John Snyder decided to quit his regular job and help out his wife with her booming crafts business full-time.. This was also about the time when Snyder's started carrying various larger craft items and smaller furniture items like unfinished pine.

In the next few years, Snyder's Furniture became a true family enterprise with John, Minnie and 2 of their 4 children, David and Eileen working in the business. With the addition of a woodshop in John & Minnie's barn, Snyder's began to put more of an emphasis on offering fine handcrafted furniture to both the visitors and residents of Lancaster County.
With a fine selection of both furniture made in our own shop and that of local Mennonite and Amish woodshops, Snyder's offered a unique selection of local woodwork.

In 1999 our current showroom was built on the outskirts of Intercourse, PA.

We offer furniture in oak, cherry, and maple, a wide variety of finishes, and almost unlimited hardware and style options. We are one of the few furniture stores that offer total customization on almost all of our furniture.
